Project Description
This temporary installation interprets pollination science, horticulture and botany centered on insect pollinators native to NYC. Gallery and garden exhibits explore coevolution between plants and pollinators and the essential role of insect pollinators in maintaining ecosystem diversity and health. Featuring practical ways to protect native pollinators, the experience inspires visitors to support pollinators in their gardens and communities.
Interpretive Strategist / Content Developer / Writer
Created and developed the interpretive strategy, the exhibition plan, and conducted content and image research. Contributed to the convening of a scholarly advisory panel comprised of AMNH scientists and other experts who were consulted in developing content areas of focus and to identify specific plants and pollinators to feature. Coordinated the panel’s review of exhibit scripts. Researched and developed interactive concepts. Authored executive summary, content outlines, and wrote and edited draft and final panel text.
Perennial Border Interpretive Panel Signage in the flower beds explore how plants and insect pollinators evolved physical characteristics through coevolution that make them more likely to interact successfully.
Plant/Pollinator Dating Game In the Conservatory Gallery, exhibits on six insect taxa feature amusing and informative interactives challenging visitors to match insects with the plants they pollinate based on fun insect profiles that highlight their particular attraction strategies.
